Job Title

Warehouse Controller

Report To:

General Manager

Purpose:

We require a warehouse controller in a central supply chain that procures and dispatches to retail stores, you must have excellent organizational and communication skills and strong leadership abilities. You should also have a good understanding of warehouse operations and logistics, and be comfortable using warehouse management systems and other technology tools. Additionally, you should have experience working with retail store managers and be familiar with the unique requirements of dispatching products to retail store locations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • 1. Inventory management: You will be responsible for managing inventory levels in the warehouse, ensuring that stock levels are maintained and that products are stored properly.This includes monitoring inventory levels, placing orders for new stock, and ensuring stock accuracy by conducting regular cycle stock counts, monthly and quarterly stock takes
  • 2. Order fulfillment: You will be responsible for coordinating the fulfillment of orders from retail stores, including picking and packing products, labeling packages, and preparing them for shipment.
  • 3. Dispatch to retail stores: You will be responsible for coordinating the dispatch of products from the central warehouse to retail store locations, including managing order fulfillment, dispatch schedules, and ensuring that products are delivered to the correct store locations.
  • 4. Liaising with retail store managers: You will be responsible for liaising with retail store managers to ensure that orders are dispatched according to their requirements, and that delivery schedules are met.
  • 5. Warehouse management: You will be responsible for managing all aspects of warehouse operations, including overseeing inventory control, ensuring that products are stored properly, and managing the movement of products in and out of the warehouse.
  • 6. Managing warehouse staff: You will be responsible for managing a team of warehouse staff who will be responsible for picking, packing, and dispatching orders, as well as managing inventory and maintaining warehouse equipment.
  • 7. Implementing and monitoring warehouse policies and procedures: You will be responsible for ensuring that all warehouse policies and procedures are implemented and followed, including safety policies, inventory control procedures, and quality control standards.
  • 8. Reporting and analysis: You will be responsible for providing regular reports on warehouse activities, including inventory levels, order fulfillment rates, and other key performance indicators. You will also be responsible for analyzing these reports and making recommendations for process improvements.

  • 1. Inventory Accuracy: The warehouse controller should ensure that the inventory records in the system match the actual inventory on the warehouse shelves.
  • 2. Order Accuracy: The warehouse controller should ensure that orders are picked, packed, and dispatched accurately and on time.
  • 3. Order Lead Time: The warehouse controller should ensure that orders are dispatched in a timely manner to meet the customer's requirements.
  • 4. Warehouse Capacity Utilization: The warehouse controller should ensure that the warehouse is operating at maximum efficiency by optimizing space utilization.
  • 5. Shipment Delays: The warehouse controller should ensure that there are no delays in shipping products to retail stores.
  • 6. Cost per Unit Shipped: The warehouse controller should ensure that the cost of shipping products to retail stores is kept low by measuring the cost per unit shipped, including the cost of packaging materials, labor, and transportation.
  • 7. Health and Safety: The warehouse controller should ensure that health and safety regulations are followed in the warehouse to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • 8. Employee Productivity: The warehouse controller should ensure that employees are working efficiently to maximize productivity by measuring the number of units picked, packed, and dispatched per employee per hour.
Education and Qualification:
Mandatory Requirements:
  • 3 to 5 years experience in warehouse & inventory management
  • Proven track record of managing cycle counts and stock takes.
  • Experience in ordering, receiving, packing, distributing and auditing stock sent to retail outlets.
  • Experience in Logistics and channel distribution across the country
