Job Title

Production Supervisor

Report To:

Branch Manager

Purpose:

Manage the entire production department as per group standard operating procedures to ensure optimal output is achieved on each machine type and the required quality is achieved on all orders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Implementing all standard operating procedures adopted by the company
  • Management of staff requirements including logging of overtime and incentives
  • Resolution of customer queries on orders
  • Confirming and verifying of full boards received- checking if the physical boards received are the same as the picking slip request
  • Ensure staff comply with health and safety regulations and enforce the use of PPE.
  • Ensure that output targets and requirements are met consistently
  • Quality assurance on output received from each machine
  • Maintenance checks on each machine type as per the guidelines provided
  • Ensuring machines and areas around them are cleaned before lunch and COB
  • To troubleshoot and provide first-line support against guidance from the PBC Technical team when machinery goes down
  • Maintain production schedule at least 2 days in advance
  • Regular updates of the production schedule with status updates minimum 4 times a day
  • Daily reporting – production output figures to be captured on the Branch Daily Production Tracker
  • Updating and maintaining the online production tracking system
  • Plan staff shifts and staff rotation
  • Planning overtime as required by the business
  • Management of blades and consumables in the production department
  • Management of storage areas, trolleys, and general housekeeping
  • Maintaining a lead time of 2-3 days on orders
  • Assisting in the Boards Warehouse as directed by the Branch Manager
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Computer Literate in google apps, and MS office (excel, word)
  • Ability to motivate staff and create a positive environment
  • Experience in the woodworking industry
  • Experience in a production environment
  • Management of people - min 15 people
  • Ability to work shifts and different hours as required
  • Technical skills on machinery would be advantageous
  • Must be able to work under pressure
Education and Qualification:
  • Grade 12 Qualification or equivalent
  • Mechanical or technical qualifications will be advantageous
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a production supervisor/controller role
  • Experience in the woodworking industry will be advantageous
Mandatory Requirements:
  • minimum 2 years experience in staff management in a production environment
  • Computer literate
  • Grade 12 Qualification or equivalent
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Good physical health.
