Forklift Driver

Report To:

Boards Warehouse Controller

Purpose:

To ensure that stock is offloaded and loaded correctly and that the bulk section of the warehouse is packed as per the group standard operating procedure

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implementing all standard operating procedures adopted by the company
• Offloading of bulk stock from supplier vehicles to be done as per standard operating procedure
• Marking/ Spraying pallets before stock is brought into the warehouse
• Loading of full boards and orders onto customer vehicles
• Reporting to supervisor immediately of any damages to boards when offloading or moving stock within the warehouse
• Ensuring the bulk warehouse/section is packed correctly as per standard operating procedure and directive from warehouse controller
• Conduct Daily forklift maintenance checks which include oil, water, tyres, hours and lever controls are all working correctly
• Assisting in warehouse and production as instructed by the warehouse controller and branch manager
• Moving of stock from bulk warehouse to operating warehouse as per transfer sheet and instruction from warehouse controller
• Moving of stock from bulk section to A Frames to be packed as instructed by the warehouse controller
• Moving of cut boards to the edgebender and dispatch area as instructed by the production controller
• Report any issues with the forklift to the Warehouse Controller immediately
• Ensure cleanliness, hygiene and housekeeping of the warehouse area, both inside and outside
• Participates in stock takes quarterly and at financial year end.
• Ensure all paperwork is correctly completed when dispacthing stock to customers and other departments
• The pulling of stock and checking stock levels according to standard operating procedures.
• Dispatching of full boards and completed orders to customers
• Dispatching of full boards to production
• Complete, stamp and signing of picking slips when dispatching full boards to customer and production
• Stamp and sign Job Cards when dispatching completed orders to customers
• Conduct daily cycle counts
• Assisting production across all machines when directed by the Warehouse Controller

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

• Must have product knowledge on boards
• Numeracy and literacy are key skills for this position
• Must be able to work under pressure
• Write, read and speak in English
• Understand the impact of stock loss or damage on the business.

Education and Qualification:

• Grade 12 Qualification or equivalent
• Certification in operating forklift
• Valid Forklift License to operate a minimum 4.5Ton forklift

Mandatory Requirements:

• Valid Forklift License to operate minimum 4.5Ton forklift
• Certification in operating forklift
• Grade 12 Qualification or equivalent
• Ability to read and write and speak English
• Good physical health.
