Description

Okoume, plywood is made from the wood of the Okoume tree. It is sometimes called Okoume Mahogany and has a pinkish-brown or pale red hue. Okoume has a uniform texture and the grain is straight to barely wavy that looks interlocked and attractive.

Okoume plywood is commonly used for building racing boats and other uses where lightweight wood is needed. It can also be used for building furniture or on kitchen cabinets because of its lustrous appearance.

Veneer opens a whole new world of woodworking to even the most experienced craftsperson.

The crisscross design of wood veneer reduces the chances of splitting or cracking and the glue is the same strong, waterproof adhesive used in aircraft and marine construction!

The result is actually stronger than the natural wood. Many people mistakenly assume that veneered furniture is inferior to or cheaper than solid wood; however, veneers quite often are used for high end furniture pieces and it can be more costly than solid wood. With an exotic veneer, simple projects can be turned into works of art. In fact, a highly figured veneer can often be the qualifying characteristic that makes one project stand well above the rest.
